Seraphim Strike Fighter

Introduced in Dropzone Commander

The Seraphim is a heavy fighter, designed specifically for strike missions against ground targets. It features a well armoured underbelly, giving it enhanced protection against ground fire. This is just as well, since a typical attack run involves a subsonic, low altitude pass, often directly over the frontlines.

Its primary weapon is the unique Heavenfire system, which can rain torrents of white hot plasma from the Seraphim’s internal storage bays. Its deadly payload must be released directly above the target, making the hardened Seraphim the ideal delivery system. Able to reduce a heavy battle tank to a molten puddle, the Heavenfire makes the Seraphim an excellent tank-buster.

The Seraphim also features four under-wing hardpoints to which powerful 'Sledgehammer' Bunker Busters can be attached. With these heavy weapons systems, the Seraphim is superbly equipped to deliver unbridled devastation to anything on terra firma.

Lumbering: The Seraphim completes its attack run in steady, level flight. As such, it is vulnerabe to pursuing interceptors on its tail. Interceptors which follow the Seraphim's movement corridor may ignore the +2 accuracty penalty normally incurred during an intercept.

You may take a maximum of 1 squad of this type in a Skirmish, 2 squads in a Clash, and 3 squads in a Battle.

Weapons with the same ALT-X number can only fire one profile each round.

This weapon may target Infantry in a Garrison whether they have moved to an edge or not. Missed shots are allocated to friendly units if present in the Garrison. Neither Body Cover nor Soft Cover nor Evasion Countermeasures may be used against Flame weapons. Scenery receive 1 additional Collateral Damage token regardless of damage inflicted. see: BfE v2.x Flame Rules

Multiply damage inflicted by the X value for targets of the Type specified. Critical Damage rolls double the multiplier value, except for Scenery.

On a hit, place the indicated size template on top of the target unit. On a miss, scatter the template a random direction a number of inches equal to the difference between the required roll to hit and the number actually rolled. On a 1, nothing happens. If any part of a Vehicle is under the template it is hit, if the center of an Infantry base is under the template, that unit takes 1D6 hits. Body Cover has no effect on Area weapons. If an area weapon is fired against an Infantry base inside a Structure, they suffer 2D6 hits, or the building suffers a direct hit on a miss that is not a 1. Direct hits to Structures do not use templates, instead the weapon profile gains Demolisher-2, or doubles any existing Demolisher value.

This weapon can only be used in X Shooting actions per game.

Multiply the damage inflicted against a structure by the X value.

Airburst weapons deal twice the usual amount of DP against infantry when fired upon them directly. They also ignore Soft Cover.
