Scimitar Heavy Battle Tank Destroyer
Introduced in Dropzone Commander
The Scimitar is a new heavy tank design currently undergoing its first combat trials. It is equipped with the experimental UMX-1 'Marksman' Battlefield Laser. Its long range killing power has lead to its hasty adoption by the UCMA, since a weapon able to circumvent active countermeasures was desperately needed. As such, the Scimitar fulfils the crucial role of tank destroyer, giving UCM forces the ability to strike at distant targets with impunity.
Using the Gladius-type hull, the Scimitar is also able to soak up considerable punishment. This gives it the ability to go toe-to-toe with the heaviest of its prey.
Although its time on the battlefield has so far been brief, reports from the front suggest the Scimitar has been well received. Despite reliability issues, its unique abilities have been highly prized by many commanders. However, the UMX-1's massive power drain precludes firing on the move. In addition to a fixed weapon mount, this makes the Scimitar unsuitable for close engagements.

The Marksman's Touch: This weapon's extreme accuracy allows the targeting of essential systems and chinks in armour. If a roll of 6 is achieved when rolling to hit, 2Dp are automatically inflicted, in place of rolling to inflict damage. A Passive Countermeasures roll may still be takne before this damage is inflicted.
Transport: 1-2x Condor Medium Dropships (2 units each). May share 1x Albatross Heavy Dropship with another Scimitar Squad or Gladius Squad. The total number of vehicles must equal 6.
